Sarah and Chase | Engagement Photos at Ault Park

It was hot, humid and BUSY.  But we still had FUN!  Ault park is always so beautiful in the Spring with all of the different gardens they have, so, of course, everyone is lining up to get their portraits done at each little nook and cranny there. However, Sarah and Chase were fantastic (and very patient!) while we scouted and waited for the primo spots so we could capture some gorgeous engagement images for them.  Afterward, we stopped for some refreshments at Dutch's and it was so fun hearing their story about how they got together!

  • We met September 2011 at the University of Toledo. I was entering my senior year pursuing a bachelors in psychology. Chase had recently decided to go back to school to become a licensed 7-12 social studies teacher through the Licensure Alternative Master's Program. I hoped to take an adolescent behavior and development course as an elective however ti was full. The second week of classes a spot opened up and I was able to register late. This was a required class for Chase's program. My first day I sat next to Chase who was wearing a Cleveland Indians hat (that he still wears) and made a smart comment about the "C" standing for Chase. We continued sitting by each other and eventually exchanged numbers. One night after the two of us got off of work at our respective restaurant jobs we met up for drinks. We talked until last call.
  • Chase and I drive to Chicago every Christmas Eve after celebrating with his family. When we arrived at the hotel late on Christmas Eve I insisted we bring Christmas presets up to the hotel room. The next morning, Chase and I drank our coffee in bed and hung out until I decided it was time for presents. I thoroughly enjoy giving gifts to others so I was excited to watch as Chase opened his gifts from me. After he finished opening his gifts it would have been my turn. I assumed Chase put his gift to me somewhere else so I proceeded to open the curtains and get ready to celebrate Christmas with my family. After opening the curtains and observing the lack of snow on the ground I turned around to see Chase on one knee. He asked and all I could say was "Really?!" for a minute straight. Eventually I was able to say yes. Then we got ready to celebrate Christmas and our engagement with my family. We had margaritas and buffalo chicken dip as our celebration meal while we waiting for Christmas dinner to be prepared.
